How to find a high quality square dining
table
We all know that buying furniture can be a very expensive process
to have to undergo.
So, it makes sense to check out any thing that you are thinking
about buying before you actually buy it. Unfortunately, people just aren't
trained to properly spot quality, sturdy
furniture. So
what can you do?
Well, the good news is that it's much easier than you
probably think it is. Here are few tips to help
you buy a sturdy square dining table:
1.
Check its stability – this test is easy, just wiggle the piece of
furniture back and forth a little bit. If it feels solid, obviously
that's a good sign. If
it's squeaks a lot, or sways way out of line, you might want to
move on. Of course, if
you don't mind retightening some bolts or applying some glue, you
can save a lot of money by buying a table that everyone else this
is too much work.
2.
See how well it was taken care of – again, a pretty easy
test. Just look around
the table a little bit and see what you notice. If it's an older or used table,
then it is perfectly expected for the corners and edges to be a
little worn down or rounded. It's also pretty common for the
wood to have a faded look, which can easily be fixed with a new
coat of wax or stain.
The things that you want to watch out for are major issues, like
knife marks or small chunks missing. Other difficult repairs would be
if there's water damage or a water rings from a drink without a
coaster. The last
things to look for are stains. Because wood is porous, if the
square dining table you're looking at it stained there a very good
chance that it won't come out. So if you see any, keep
looking.
3.
Comfort – now that we know that the table is in good shape, you can
start to see how it fits you personally. If you're tall, you'll want a
taller table, etc.
Here's a tip: always check for defects as outlined above before
deciding if you 'love' a table or not; nothing is more annoying
than to find a table you love and find out that it can't be
repaired. If you're in
a showroom, try sitting at the table and see how it
feels. You want to be
able to rest your hands on the table without any back
discomfort. This is a
great way to tell if it is the right height for you or
not.
Once you've done all that, the last thing that you want to check is
if your new square dining table fits in with your current
décor. Personally, I
have a lot of trouble remember how things look, so I like to bring
a camera and takes pictures of what I looked at, so that when I get
home I can pick which one matches best. Follow these steps and you should
find a great new dining table that will last for years!
